Jerusalem

In Jerusalem a unique national archaeology campus is being built. The project — commissioned by the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) and officially named The Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein National Campus for the Archaeology of Israel — combines three major components: storage of the national archaeological treasures (some two million items); restoration labs for objects made of various materials, including the Dead Sea Scrolls, mosaics, and glass, textile, and clay finds; and a national archaeology library and archive... Beautiful Facet:  CHRONICLE

The Israeli National Library has released images of Herzog & de Meuron’s design for the library’s new home in Jerusalem. The six-story building, awarded to the Swiss practice following an extensive interview process, will be built by 2019 on a prominent site at the base of the Knesset building and adjacent to the Israel Museum, Science Museum and Hebrew University. The new National Library of Israel will merge functions for research and study, as well as cultural and education activities, under a single curved roof punctured by a massive oculus. It is expected to total at about 34,000 square meters and will include four stories below ground for ample storage and parking... Beautiful Facet:  MENTORING
